Apart from a basic understanding of major psychological theories, students will also gain transferable skills such as communication skills, basic knowledge of statistical analysis, as well as academic and research writing skills.
The Higher Diploma provides a good foundation for students in Singapore who are keen to embark on a career in the field of psychology. It also enhances students' career prospects in various areas such as marketing, human resource, counselling and special education.
There are a total of 5 terms (2 modules for the first 4 terms, followed by the Graduation Project conducted under supervision in Term 5). Students will attend 10 lectures and 2 tutorials from Term 1 to 4, before undertaking the Graduation Project.
Applicants will need to fulfil one of the following admissions requirements:
1. Obtained 2 GCE 'A' Levels Passes (at least a Grade E in any 2 GCE 'A' Levels subject) OR
2. Awarded the International Foundation Diploma in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Art or Psychology from MDIS OR
3. Completed 12 years of formal education (for international applicants only) OR
4. 8 years of relevant work experience (for mature candidates ≥30 years old only)
